Stratford upon Avon, famous as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, has a huge range of tourist accommodation including 2, 3 and 4 star hotels, guesthouses and bed & breakfasts. The town is extremely popular with tourists, especially in the summer months, and when the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) is performing at the RST (Royal Shakesspeare Theatre).
The town centre has a number of 4 star hotels including the Mercure Shakespeare (formely a Macdonald Hotel), The Stratford Victoria (a Q Hotel), and , as always, a Holiday Inn (formerly a Moat House). All these hotels offer much the same standards and have car parking. The four star which we would recommned is just about 1/2 a mile outside of Stratford on the Warwick road and this is the Menzies Welcombe Hotel Spa and Golf club. This is a fabulous building oozing character and charm and it has a simply superb spa and position overlooking the river Avon in the valley below.
The best of the 3 star hotels, in our opinion, is the Best Western Grosvenor Hotel, which has a great location about 200 yards from the Avon and a matter of a few minutes walk from the RST.
For a good guesthouse try Arden Way Guesthouse which gets consistently high guest reviews or the Arden Park Guesthouse (non smoking).

Warwick Castle is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Britain. With its magnificent towers and ramparts, the castle offers visitors over 1000 years of history, which includes surviving some of the most turbulent times in English History.
The dark dungeon contrasts with the elegant splendour of the State Rooms. You are able to experience the sights, smells and sounds of medieval life, you can pick up a sword or try on a helmet to see how soldiers lived or visit the eerie Ghost Tower. The Mill and Engine House, which opened in 2002 - helps you to discover how electricity was created to light up the whole Castle in 1900. You are able to buy your entrance ticket to Warwick Castle at the hotel reception.
